BIOGRAPHY: A studio artist and teacher, Emily DuBois received a B.F.A. from the Rochester Institute of Technology School for American Crafts in 1970, an M.F.A. from California College of Arts and Crafts in 1980, and postgraduate training at the Indian Institute of Handloom Technology in Benaras in 1981. In 1984 she was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts Individual Artist Fellowship, and in 1989/90 a California Arts Council Fellowship in Visual Arts. Her work has been exhibited internationally including Textile Museum, Washington D.C.; Musee d’art contemporain de Montreal; Irish and British Crafts Councils; Nederlands Textielmuseum Tilburg; and Central Museum of Textiles, Lodz, Poland. Public Collections include the Renwick Gallery, Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC; Oakland Museum, Oakland, CA; Mingei International Museum, San Diego, CA; M.H. deYoung Museum, San Francisco, CA; and The Albuquerque Museum, Albuquerque, NM
