BIOGRAPHY: Kate Kretz is a painter whose work dictated a shift to fibers 4-5 years ago. She is currently working on a series of Psychological Clothing, as well as a series of embroideries done with her own hair. Kretz attended the Sorbonne in Paris, then received a BFA in Drawing & Painting from Binghamton University, and an MFA in painting from the University of Georgia. Her work has been featured in The Boston Globe, The Miami Herald, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, ArtPapers, Australian Cosmopolitan magazine, and Surface Design: it will soon be featured in Pistil magazine. She has been an Associate Professor at Florida international University for 10 years, and has recently moved to NC where she is working full-time in her studio.
