I can't recall a backpacking trip that began with such stunning scenery - even if you aren't into backpacking, if you've never hiked out a mile or so along the Panorama trail from Glacier Point, you are missing one of life's great experiences. At one point we could see Half Dome, Nevada, Vernal and Illouette Falls as well as the high country of Yosemite. We were surprised by the fullness of the falls, which we later learned was due to the previous week's thunderstorms.
